Abstract

The paper discusses the process of the secularisation of the Reformed Franciscan monastery in Szamotuły. The monastery was founded at the end of the 17th century by the then owner of the town Jan Korzbok Łącki. The founder settled the monks in the remains of the former castle and built for them a church dedicated to St. Cross. The convent operated until the death of the last guardian, who died in February 1832. After a few years (1839), the former monastic buildings were taken over by the Catholic parish in Szamotuły.
