THE BEGINNINGS...

  • The first issue of "Studia Philosophiae Christianae", published in 1965, contained 7 articles and 34 other texts, mainly reviews of articles, books and reports on scientific events. The authors of the first articles published in SPCh were Bolesław J. Gawecki, Józef Iwanicki, Kazimierz Kłósak, Bronisław Dębowski, Edmund Morawiec, Edward Nieznański. In the editorial introduction, the idea of establishing the journal was explained and its thematic profile outlined: The scope of the journal's programme is determined by the established and implemented curriculum at the Faculty of Philosophy. The topics considered in the Journal may be issues related either to the system as a whole, to a specific field or to a particular issue. In this treatment of problems, analysis and criticism - both formal and content-related - will aim, according to the situation, either to demonstrate the correctness of solutions, or to highlight the uncertainty of solutions and to delineate new findings (From the Editor). It was also indicated that, apart from articles, reports on philosophical events and discussions of publications in the field of philosophy would constitute a significant part of the content of the journal: Alongside this specific treatment of problems, the journal will contain reports to inform our readers about the directions and interests in the most important journals and books in the field of philosophy. It concludes with a request to readers: ... for a kind reception; for advice, comments and criticisms we shall be obliged. The introduction was signed by the members of the then first Editorial Committee of the SPCh, consisting of: Piotr Chojnacki, Bronisław Dębowski, Bolesław Gawecki, Józef Iwanicki, Kazimierz Kłósak, Marceli Molski, Edmund Morawiec, Stanisław Olszewski, Stefan Swieżawski, Jan Szuleta.
