Summary: The year 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the philosophical journal Studia Philosophiae Christianae (SPCh). It is one of the longest-running philosophical journals in Poland. The journal was founded in 1965 on the initiative of the staff of the Department of Christian Philosophy at the Catholic Academy of Theology in Warsaw. It is currently edited at the Institute of Philosophy of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. The journal is published twice a year, although for a time it was published quarterly. From the very beginning, it has published texts from all fields of philosophy, and initially also from psychology. In the 1960s and 1970s, it published a number of texts expressing views that differed from the Marxist philosophy that was dominant in Poland at the time. Currently, it publishes philosophical articles, book reviews and reports on philosophical events. The magazine's motto is: ‘Philosophy free from prejudice’. It reflects a willingness to engage in an open exchange of views. The journal specialises in publishing texts on classical philosophy, in particular broadly understood Christian philosophy, within the scope of theoretical and practical philosophy. The name of the journal is inspired by its historical roots and at the same time aims to reflect its specific character. This does not mean, however, that it is closed to other philosophical traditions, including those influenced by different worldviews, as well as cultural and religious contexts. The article presents the history of the SPCh, its specific nature, the topics of the published texts and their authors. The article summarises 60 years of the SPCh's activity.
From the article: "In total, between 1965 and 2024, 2,715 texts were published in 142 issues of the SPCh, including: 1,949 articles, 443 publication reviews, 312 reports, 43 memoirs about people, and 389 other texts. (...) During its 60 years of existence, SPCh can boast 816 authors who have published their texts in the journal" (pp. 21, 26).
