Abstract

The subject of this article is the search for an appropriate way to proclaim eschatological content, traditionally referred to in catechetical terms as the “last things”. Post-conciliar theology has abandoned the eschatological vision of “things”, shifting
towards describing them in terms of “states” and, more recently, increasingly in personalist categories. This shift is driven not only by theological considerations but also by cultural and communicative factors. A crucial question remains: to what extent is the proclamation of eschatological content from a personalist perspective more comprehensible and convincing for the listener than the older visions rooted in biblical imagery? Studies on contemporary Polish preaching show that eschatological truths are practically absent from homiletic proclamation. However, the absence of a new eschatological imagination necessitates a return to abandoned
representations, which must be subjected to contemporary theological hermeneutics.
