Abstract

In Giddens’s theory, according to Ulrich Beck, the reflexivity of experts translates directly into the so-called „institu tional reflexivity”. However, many events contradict this belief. An example is the conversation between Igor Janke and Professor Krzysztof Meissner in the program Układ otwarty in 2022. The conversation concerned the burning of radioactive waste. Professor Meissner was in favour of such a solution, but recalled that all research into nuclear physics had been suspended in Germany. The research was suspended despite the protests of physicists, which shows that expert reflexivity does not translate directly into institutional reflexivity.
