Abstract

Seeking consensus of general, moral and universal values for all those who recognize their objective dimension cannot be based on the principle of the superior importance of majority. Nor can it mean the abandonment of fundamental of norms anchored in the revelation of the Lord. The limit of the compromise is fidelity to revealed truth. Moral law is not in any way opposed to freedom, on the contrary, it is its guarantee. Owing to it freedom is genuine and not only the mask of freedom thus enabling one’s existence in truth possible. Obedience to conscience claims obedience to truth and truth must be considered as superior to any social institution and any individual preferences.
