Abstract

The article reviews the literature on the situation of siblings of people with autism spectrum disorders. It points to the difficulties and problems that appear in the lives of siblings of people with ASD, both in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. It means both positive and negative experiences of non-disabled siblings in contact with their autistic siblings. It also points to the difficulties of siblings in the mental health field and the sense of coherence in siblings of people with ASD, which impacts human health. The last part concerns supporting siblings as the brother/sister of a person with ASD and the functioning of siblings in the family.
