Self-harm and a virtual universe. Reconfiguration of the therapeutic community – case study

Abstract

The objective of the study is to describe a fundamental reconfiguration of therapeutic community by using cyberworld in self-harmer of a young woman. Using the  case study on a patienturing her psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The data indicated that self-harm and paralled cybersocieties have the same function. They are the transitional objects. Cybersocieties are used as a reconfiguration of a therapeutic community. A relationship between self-harming and using cybergroups is confirmed as a reconfiguration of some levels of ego function.
