Abstract

The article presents the findings of a research study conducted on the functioning of local education systems. The research was carried out in various local governments that exhibit diversity in terms of region, size, population rate, spatial arrangements, and income. The study identified key factors influencing the functioning of these local education systems, such as the lack of a long-term developmental vision for the Polish education system, the influence of Polish laws, and the financing of educational tasks, which are dependent on central policies. These factors restrict the independence and autonomy of local councils, which serve as the governing authorities for public schools and educational institutions.
Based on the author's analysis of the research findings, several recommendations have been proposed for the future of the Polish public education system. These recommendations will be subject to further discussion and deliberation among researchers in this field.
