Abstract

This article is research-based, with the aim of focusing on the mental health of children and young people in the context of their spiritual development and attempting to identify the place of education in relation to this area. A diagnostic survey using an online questionnaire was adopted as the research method. The group of respondents comprised a total of 209 people, of whom parents accounted for 54, teachers for 55 and scout instructors for 100. Women constituted 83.7% of the respondents. Several categories were identified for research purposes: those relating to faith and religiosity; transcendence and supernatural phenomena; feelings, inner life; state of mind, consciousness; abilities and skills; manner and lifestyle. The results of the research indicated that there are existing gaps in the preparation of those responsible for the upbringing and educational process to impart spiritual content to children and young people, as only 14.8 per cent of the respondents felt that they had obtained comprehensive knowledge of spiritual development within the framework of their acquired education.
