The role of beliefs in criminological theories and practice of social rehabilitation

Abstract

The aim of the article is to draw attention to the role of beliefs in the concept of social learning and Hirschi’s social bonding theory and the ability to use them in the practice of social rehabilitation. There are descriptions of selected interactions between cognitive variables and environmental variables significant for estimating the effectiveness of the impact of the resocialization tools. Further parts of the article present elements characteristic for the corrective programs based on cognitive – behavioral theory. These elements promote the effectiveness of corrective actions.
