Abstract

The effectiveness of rehabilitation of prisoners is closely linked to the process of social re-adaptation, resulting in the full social reintegration of offenders. This is connected with the granting of more importance to the socialization process of rehabilitation and a paradigm shift that stresses the necessity of  developing  and strengthening the active participation of the individual in creating a new identity. Recent years underline the need to strengthen generativity in the process of social reintegration. Generativity in short is a concern for future generations, but it can also be expressed through the care for yourself, your own future as well as the others. This article aims to show the usefulness of the category of generativity in the process of social reintegration. Theoretical and practical aspects of the implementation of this process to desistance from crime are accented. Although not all studies confirm the importance of generativity in the process of social re-adaptation of offenders, the author encourages Polish researchers to conduct further research, which is clearly lacking.
