Abstract

The aim of article is to analyze, criticize and interpret deliberately selected examples of printed sources – within the scope of ecological education in the Republic of Poland between the two World Wars (1918-1939). The said sources constitute antecedences of the newest directions of ecological education development in Poland, as well as they form a positive status of the tradition – Polish cultural heritage. During the discussed historical period one’s attention was drawn to the value of close relation between the nature and culture, and ecological education for the environment protection was understood as a social activity expressed as a cultural trend – culture – forming value of relations between a man and the natural environment. It was explained that culture forms a part of the environment whereas quality of the social and the natural environment as well as thinking and acting in terms of ecology constitute implication of the entirety of Polish cultural heritage, i.e. the aforementioned issues should not be discussed separately, but from the perspective of many aspects and a systemic approach.
