Author Guidelines

The editorial team of "Studia Teologiczne Białystok Drohiczyn Łomża" requests that authors familiarize themselves with the rules of the qualification and publishing process.

  1. Before submitting your text for publication, please review the criteria outlined in the "Author's Statement." After reviewing these criteria, please print the "Author's Statement" form, fill it out, sign it, and attach it along with the text file of the article.
  2. Every text submitted for publication in ST should adhere to the norms listed below. If the text does not meet the requirements of the following instructions, it will be archived after an internal review, and the author will be asked to revise the text and resubmit it. Only when the article meets the required guidelines can it proceed to the review process.
  3. Only articles that meet the criteria of a high scientific standard and originality, i.e., those that have not been published before, may be published in the journal.
  4. "Studia Teologiczne Białystok Drohiczyn Łomża" accepts articles in Polish and in congress languages.
  5. The author is required to write their article in such a way that the external reviewer, who will read and review the text anonymously (double-blind-review process), cannot identify the author's name based on the information contained in the main text or in the footnotes.
  6. If the author does not return the author’s proof within the specified time or does not respond to the revised text, it means that the author agrees to the publication of the text in the form proposed by the editorial team in the proof.
  7. Authors of published scientific papers receive 1 free author’s copy of the journal in paper form. Each author must confirm via email the receipt of the author’s copy from the Editorial Office.
  8. Authors submit their articles for publication through the electronic system Platform & Workflow by OJS/PKP by visiting the website https://czasopisma.uksw.edu.pl/. If it is their first time using the system, they must register and log in.

Editorial Guidelines

  • The submitted text should be saved in doc, docx, or rtf formats. Font: Times New Roman, size: Main text: 12 pt; title: 16 pt; spacing: 1.5; margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
  • Please divide the text with subheadings (using Arabic numbering aligned with the left margin).
  • Quotes should be enclosed in quotation marks (plain text – not italicized). Terms and quotes in foreign languages (regardless of the language) should be written in italics.
  • Please remove hyperlinks.
  • Please adhere to the text length. The article should contain at least 21,000 characters (excluding bibliography) but no more than 45,000 characters, including spaces, footnotes, and bibliography. The editorial team reserves the right to shorten the text.

The text should be formatted according to the following scheme:

  1. Author's name
  2. Affiliation
  3. Title in Polish
  4. Abstract in Polish (approx. 150 words)
  5. Keywords in Polish (4-5 terms)
  6. Full text of the article
  7. Title in English
  8. Abstract in English (approx. 150 words)
  9. Keywords in English (4-5 terms)
  10. Title in English
  11. Bibliography
  12. Author's details: author's name, academic degree or title, affiliation (University, Institute, Department) along with an email address or phone number.

The abstract should specify the key criteria related to the prepared text. It should include: the subject and purpose of the research along with a justification for the chosen topic. It should be concise, specifying the methodology of the work and explaining the individual research steps, which also determine the structure of the prepared text. In the conclusion, the abstract should contain the conclusions drawn by the author. It should be written in clear language, enabling a quick assessment of whether the text is useful for a particular reader. The abstract should not exceed 500 characters, including spaces. The abstract should be accompanied by "keywords." These should be terms (possibly two- or three-word phrases) that are semantically related to the topic of the prepared text. A maximum of five terms or phrases can be used. When preparing the abstract, please note that it is not: Ø an arbitrarily selected fragment of the introduction or conclusion of the article; Ø a collection of statements or words that do not appear in the presented article.

Footnotes and bibliography. In the text, a period or comma appears after the footnote number, not before. Footnotes should be placed at the bottom of the page: 10 pt, single-spaced. A period is placed at the end of the footnote. The bibliography should be arranged alphabetically (only works cited in the article). Sources should be prepared according to the following scheme: Last name, initials of the author's first name(s), title in italics, publication details, page numbers (if it is part of a collective work), where the original text is located. Please do not use spacing between individual entries. Example:
Janeczek A., Osadnictwo pogranicza polsko-ruskiego województwa bełskiego od schyłku XIV do początku XVII w., Wrocław 1991. Sławiński H., Problem języka w nauczaniu religii wśród młodzieży, in: “Ateneum Kapłańskie” 2013, no. 626, pp. 109-128.

The author is responsible for any copyright and publishing rights (reprinting of illustrations, tables, and charts, as well as quoting from other sources).

  • The name of the reporter is placed in the upper left corner above the report text. Then, the title of the scientific meeting is provided, followed by the location and date. Only then does the report's content follow.
  • In the review, above the text, we include: the full name of the author of the reviewed work, the full title (bold italics) according to the title page (if the review concerns a collective or source edition, after the title, we provide the full names of the editors or publishers; if the work is multi-volume – the number of volumes or parts in Arabic numerals, e.g., vol. 1–2), possibly the name of the series, place and year of publication, and the number of pages. At the end of the review, we provide the reviewer's name (bold italics). The review text itself should be concise, interesting, and critical, encouraging the reader to pick up the book. The review is not a summary of the work but its critical presentation. • Materials. This section includes polemical texts, manuscripts, diaries, bibliographies, and content that presents scientific value but is not a scientific article. In terms of editing, the content should be formatted like an article.
