Abstract

The text Migration and the Emigrant. Migration personalism as locus theologicus in Francis’ thought and praxis is a theological and pastoral interpretation of Pope Francis’ teaching and attitude toward the migrant. Francis’ personalism should be interpreted as a kind of shift of emphasis from migration as a problem to the concrete person of the migrant. The Christian reference to the other should always be personalistic in a 1-on-1 relationship. The article points out the peculiar connectivity of the Pope’s teaching with his gestures and attitude. A combined reading of the teaching with praxis makes it possible to understand the thought of the Latin American pope. In papal teaching, the other person does not appear as a problem to be solved, but as a brother to be received and loved (Fratelli tutti) following the example of Christ’s open heart (Dielexit nos).
