Abstract

The aim of the article is to show the difficulties that concern conducting research on happiness. The ambiguity of the concept and its subjective nature, as well as the difficulties resulting from its operationalization in the research procedure contribute to numerous doubts as to its scientific framework. The text recalls some of the concerns raised by scientists and outlines a possible way to minimize them, e.g. through interdisciplinary approaches for which the author indicated sociology with its research specificity as an adequate ground and indicated assumptions that are worth considering in such research. The importance of this type of research and its practical dimension are emphasized.
