Abstract

The pursuit of happiness or satisfaction in life has been a constant in human society since the beginning of time. Curious researchers have also turned their attention to the social understanding of happiness, its components, and the processes involved in evaluating experiences in terms of happiness. This study attempts to understand the factors contributing to perceived satisfaction and fulfilment in marriage among Polish and Japanese citizens by analysing previous local and global research on values and happiness. These considerations are a prelude to further analysis of intercultural marriages between citizens of these countries.
