Abstract

The essay discusses two books: Philosophy of the Home: Domestic Space and Happiness by Emanuele Coccia (2024), and Happiness and Domestic Life: The Influence of the Home on Subjective and Social Well-being, edited by Maria Teresa Russo, Antonio Argandoña, and Richard Peatfield (2022). The texts discussed are not only original statements, but can also serve as material for research on the condition of contemporary societies. The main theme of the essay is the question of what kind of reflection on home we need. The author cites the proposals of others, ultimately offering her own based on the ideas of Alasdair MacIntyre and Józef Tischner. She advocates for the recognition of the autonomy and sovereignty of the domestic sphere vis-à-vis the public sphere.
