The „Wasted Being” as a challenge for contemporary family (reflections of a sociologist)

Maria Sroczyńsk

Abstract

Sociological research of postmodernity lead to conclusions, that consequences of social relationships trans-formation have become more radical and universal than before. Strengthened syndrome of “wasted being” caused by despotic mechanisms of economy progress and uncontrolled globalization processes seem to be a risk for all communities, especially for the primary groups, as family. Did the family institution really lose its value in the world of late modernity? Despite deep reorganization of our social life, it does not seem like the functions realized by familiar practices have significantly degenerated.
