The cultural changes of motherhood in late modernity (chosen aspects)

Magdalena Dubrawska

Abstract

This narrative paper proves that motherhood, which was previously thought as each woman’s calling, nowadays is not an obvious value and more like a personal choice. In Europe recent years have brought revolutionary changes on views of women’s and men’s societal roles. They impact traditional values like family life and behavior patterns e.g. decision to get married. This article is an attempt of sociological perception of the contemporary changes of motherhood in cultural perspective.
