Abstract

This article will discuss selected solemn values accepted by Puławy City high school graduates. In the main research hypothesis, we assume that secondary school students are already at an advanced stage of adolescence, and partly become independent from the family as their main interests and activities move beyond the family environment. Young people at this stage of development already recognize exactly their life perspectives, and at the same time increasingly establish their hierarchy of values and moral autonomy. The solemn values, i.e. those to which it is worth dedicating one’s life, are discussed in the light of the results of sociological research carried out in the years 1994-2009-2016 in four upper-secondary schools in Puławy. In the years 1994-2016 there were no significant changes in the approval of the solemn values by secondary school students in Puławy. The average approval rate of eleven values even increased from 46.2% to 53.7%. Religion is particularly low in the hierarchy of solemn values.
