Abstract

The title of the article indicates the two-dimensional and two-stage research issues: 1. the birth of a new identity, literally the „birth-of-another-self” as a parent; 2. adopting a position on being or not being – not so much a parent nominally, but a parent-pedagogue. The research conclusions were drawn using the method of existential analysis and problematization, based on an ontological-agathological theoretical framework. In this way, it was indicated that it is possible to define the experience of „good enough parenting”, combining it with the pedagogical credo expressed in the words: „The good of my child is good to the extent that it becomes my gift to others and to the world”. The emphasis on the possessive pronoun „mine - mine” does not inform here about the state of possession of „someone”, but about the source (center) of experiencing responsibility for one’s own life and the lives of others. The proposed approach opens the perspective of a critical analysis of parental attitudes, emphasizing only the self-interest of the adult and their child.
