In the article, I deal with the undescribed History of Scenography as a subject that is taught at universities and in academies. I defined the starting point as the appearance of the terms „theatrical decoration” or „plastics performative” in the curriculums. Using the example of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, I show changes in organizational models, programs, and methodological concepts. I signal the process of creation of individual „set design schools” and I show their development. I analyze the concepts of education, which change as successive outstanding artists take over management (Daszewski, Szajna, Sadowski). When analyzing the program, I pay attention to the „completeness” of education adopted at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and its versatility, as well as the principle of joint education of set designers and theatre directors, which has been applied from the very beginning, and is supported by fruitful cooperation with the Theater Academy.
