Abstract

The objective of this article is to delve into the issue of coping with stress and to explore its relevance in the context of individuals on the autism spectrum. Initially, two prominent stress theories will be introduced - the first proposed by Richard Lazarus and Susan Folkman, and the second by Stevan Hobfoll. These theories will provide a framework for understanding coping strategies.  Subsequently, the article will provide a concise overview of stress, with specific focus on how individuals on the autism spectrum and their families navigate and manage stressors. This section aims to shed light on the unique challenges they face in coping with stress.  Concluding the chapter, the article will propose proprietary solutions aimed at supporting effective stress management strategies for individuals on the autism spectrum. These solutions will emphasize empowering individuals to initiate the communication process and explore strategies tailored to their specific needs.
