Salesian Novitiate in the Southern Province

Abstract

The Southern Province (San Giacinto) has opened its own novitiate house for the first time in Kraków. In the Major Seminary in „Łosiówka” candidates trained for only two years religious life: the first time during the Nazi occupation in 1941-1942 and immediately after the world war in 1945-1946. Then for logistical reasons Provincial Jan Slósarczyk placed the novitiate in Kopiec near in Czestochowa. Salesians arrived in Kopiec in 1938. After the recent division of the provinces poles made in 1979 Kopiec is located in the province of Wroclaw (St. John Woods). The novitiate in Kopiec has become common for the two Provinces of southern Poland.
