The article presented in this issue is a trial of a musical, literary and theological analysis of some selected compositions (cantatas and hymns) dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. The compositions are valuable attainments of the composers who derive from the Salesian Society in Poland. At first, the author of the article interprets the cantata „With the morning-dawn” composed by Fr I.O. Mañski to the words of Fr S. Pruoe. Then, he characterizes the most important features of a collection of numerous hymns. In his musical analysis he takes into consideration such things as melodies, metro-rythmics and styles. Though, the article is critical but it underlines incontestable qualities of the compositions at issue and shows that they are very functional. Being in accordance with the liturgical requirements, they can still be a great repertory in the Mass liturgy, worship and novena.
