Abstract

The article concerns conciliatory mediations in marriage and family. It starts with explaining what conciliatory mediations are and what their assumptions and aims are in the Polish legal system. Conciliatory mediations offer a chance to help married couples and families in crisis and facing divorce. the impact of happy or unhappy childhood is stressed, as bad experiences from early years cast a shadow on the whole life of a person. a communal character of a family is also emphasized, with children not being an addition to a marriage, but rather an integral part of a family, causing certain commitments on the part of the parents. feelings and emotions, love and respect, commitment and responsibility make the internal world of a person, which affects this person’s decisions. those decisions may create harmony or havoc in the married and family life. then, the author discusses five languages of love, five languages of forgiveness and five languages of request and points out the importance of conversation and dialogue in the life of a married couple as well as in mediations. the article finishes with considerations on forgiveness as a form of handling hurts, crushed hopes, lack of trust, disappointments and bitterness. It is pointed out that we are not alone, we live in a human community and we have a lot to offer to each other, which, in turn, may bring fruit and give new meaning to our life. Spouses are not always aware of dependence that exists in every marriage: everybody has their burdens in marriage but there are also ways to deal with problems. you can always count on help and support from other people.
