Abstract

Family has always been and will always remain in the centre of pastoral care of the Church because of its double dimension: sacrum and profanum. the article discusses those two dimensions mainly on the basis of teachings by John Paul II. Work is not only activity and toil on the outside; work is also constant toiling and watching in the whole of the spiritual sphere, thus being a process in the sacrum dimension. Similarly, rest and celebrating. a person deprived of the possibility of rest and celebrating may lose the sense of his/her dignity and responsibility.
