Mathematical illiteracy – social significance

Abstract

The article shows the problem of the occurrence of mathematical illiteracy in modern societies. The starting point for the author’s remarks is the highlighting of the existence of cognitive limitations and methods of heuristic reasoning. The author presents the causes and consequences of this common problem.
