Abstract

This article attempts to answer the question of how the provisions of the Council of Nicaea contributed to the polemic with the views proclaimed by the Luciferians. In order to examine this issue, it is necessary to conduct a historical and critical study discussing the disputes surrounding Arianism in the 4th century. The text analyses Lucifer’s views in this regard and then presents Jerome’s counterarguments. The Stridonian author focuses on demonstrating the errors of the Luciferians, and the most important argument of the Author of Altercatio is reference to the disciplinary canons of the Council of Nicaea.
