Abstract

The Jubilee Year, described by Pope Francis as a time of “signs of hope,” provides an important context for reflection on the situation of today’s youth, who live in conditions of uncertainty, impermanence and a crisis of meaning. Young people are increasingly experiencing isolation, axiological confusion and loss of hope, which affects their activity and social engagement. The article addresses the issue of religious education as a space for shaping hope and the integral development of young people. The aim of the research was to determine the factors determining students’ satisfaction with religious education lessons and to identify areas of life in which these lessons are formative. The qualitative study was conducted on the basis of an analysis of open statements made by 7,340 secondary school students. The results allowed for the identification of key categories, such as community, personal development, support, and building interpersonal relationships. In the opinion of the respondents, religion classes promote integration, volunteerism, a sense of security, and sensitivity to the need to do good, constituting an important source of hope and a positive outlook on the future.
