Abstract

This article attempts to define manic disorders and identify their causes, including those related to bipolar disorder and substance use. By characterizing the symptoms of mania, an attempt is made to determine the impact of mania on the subject's ability to validly express marital consent, in the specific types of incapacity specified in canon 1095 of the Code of Canon Law.
