Abstract

Art education at the level of elementary education (preschool and early school) is one of the important areas of child development. However, in school practice, its possibilities are often not fully utilized when working with children. The article indicates the reasons for this situation in art teaching. Strong emphasis was placed on the psychological dimension of a child's art education. Based on her studies and research, the author offers a proposal for working with a 2- or 3-year-old child at preschool age and with a child at early school age in the field of his or her art education. The presented assumptions and their implementation with children are based on stimulating their artistic creativity based on shaping their visual perception in terms of color, line, and shape. This is a proposal for an art teaching program that confirmed the possibility of developing a child's creative potential through artistic activities.
