Abstract

Climate change constitutes one of the greatest the challenges mankind currently faces. Everyone bears the consequences of the change, especially children living in the poorest parts of the world. Therefore, international non-government organizations undertake actions to adapt the local communities to the changing living conditions they live in. The author makes a reconstruction of the model of the children’s participation in those actions based on selected reports of international non-government organizations. The qualitative analysis of the contents of the reports applied by the author depicts a model of children’s participation which in its basics pertains to the concept of child as the social actor. In this model, children, together with adults and/oralternatingly with them, take decisions and actions the outcomes of which affect the lives of both individual people and the entire community.
