Abstract

Assistive technology has been present in the educational setting of children with visual impairments for years. Although there is still shortage of solid data that proves its validity, literature informs about the increased access to information among children with disabilities. The effective selection and implementation of assistive solutions has a broader meaning apart from giving access to learning aids. It can also support social inclusion by offering tools that allow for unimpaired interactions in a variety of formal and informal communication situations.

Jarosław Wiazowski – doktor, anglista, tyflopedagog, specjalista do spraw technologii wspomagających. Od 2011 roku prowadzi zajęcia w Zakładzie Tyflopedagogiki na Akademii Pedagogiki Specjalnej w Warszawie z technologii wspomagających dla niewidomych i metodyki pracy z dzieckiem niewidomym i słabowidzącym. Związany również z Uniwersytetem Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego w Warszawie. Swój warsztat naukowy i praktyczny doskonalił, studiując i pracując z kadrami dydaktycznymi, dziećmi i młodzieżą z niepełnosprawnością wzroku w Polsce, Norwegii, Stanach Zjednoczonych i Republice Południowej Afryki. Współautor podręcznika Assessing Students’ Needs for Assistive Technology (ASNAT) Manual 5th Edition. Uczestnik światowych konferencji, takich jak ICEVI, WBU, ATIA czy CSUN. Obecnie prowadzi również firmę konsultingowo-szkoleniową Includo, której celem jest szerzenie wiedzy i umiejętności z zakresu doboru i stosowania technologii wspomagających i technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych.
