Abstract

One hundred years ago, in the Prussian city of Olsztyn, the Polish-Catholic School Society for Warmia was established. This event was special in the history of Warmia, as it was the first local initiative of the Polish movement in this area, which officially, having legal subjectivity, dealt with the organization of education for the Polish minority within the German state. The Society as a social organization, by providing mother tongue teaching, headed towards national education and education based on the principles of the Catholic religion.
