The Ethical Dimension of Care and Aid Initiatives Aimed at Supporting Children’s Development on the Example of the “Adoption of the Heart” Program

Abstract

The article presents educational, care and aid activities carried out for children in Rwanda. As a result of the civil war in this country in 1994, several hundred thousand children were orphaned. Real emergency situation of children affected by the phenomenon of orphanhood has launched a wide intervention and compensation activities of diverse entities and milieus. Various assistance programs were created. “Adoption of the Heart”, a movement for children in Africa in which the Society of Pallotines is involved is an example of such initiatives. The author would like to point out that proper care and educational process should be carried out in such a way as not to interfere with the natural development of children’s independence, regardless of their age.
