Abstract

A detailed analysis of five examples of monuments is a subject of the article from the age concerning the attitude of Jan III Sobieski near Vienna, in part entirely unknown for Polish reader. The author showed that the portrait of Sobieski put on the front page of medallic work was referring to ancient images for the personage from Roman times and came into existence based on royal images in the graphics. Also and royal imprint included in the inscription otokowym of obverse turned up earlier at the European medallic art.
