Abstract

Since 1967, in East Berlin the pastoral care of Poles was taken by a Salesian from the Province of Cologne, Father Georg Broja of the Upper Silesian origin. As late as in 1987, the Salesians from the Province of Piła were appointed to work in the capital of the German Democratic Republic. They stayed there until 2003. Father Konstanty Goławski (a student) from the Province of Warsaw, in 1981 in West Berlin established a pastoral care for Polish-speaking Catholics. On th of 1st January 1997 its name was changed into the Polish Catholic Mission. Since 2003, four Polish Salesians have been living off three pastoral jobs granted by the Curia of Berlin. On Sundays, the priests attend upon 4-5 thousand of people.
