Inspirations from Herbart in Contemporary Pedagogy. Panel Discussion

Abstract

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the first publication of the General Pedagogy by Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776-1841), a specialist conference took place on November 16, 2006 in the Institute for Pedagogy of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, attended by numerous scientists from Poland and guests from Poland Germany participated. At the end of the one-day conference, a panel discussion was held with the aim of summarizing the history and current position of Herbarts research in Poland, as well as showing perspectives for the future. Both the speakers and the participants of the conference took part in the discussion: Prof. D. Benner (Humboldt University of Berlin), Prof. T. Hejnicka-Bezwinska (Kasimir the Great University in Torun), Prof. W. P. Zaczyński and Dr. A. Fijalkowski (Warsaw University), dr. L. Marszalek and Dr. Dariusz Stepkowski SDB (Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw). Their contributions are reflected in this article.
