Abstract

The article takes on the problem of ecological responsibility. The starting point for the reflection undertaken is an assumption that the sources of the ecological crisis cannot be narrowed only to an economical or a technological dimension. The ecological crisis is closely linked to the moral crisis, because it begins in the human being itself as a result of the loss of a proper relationship between him/her and the environment. That is why an education aimed at ecological responsibility is so important a task. However a mere increase of ecological awareness is insufficient. It must be accompanied by a change of attitude, and also by a rejection of the mentality of consumerism and the purely quantitative conception of development in favour of a new quality of life.
