Abstract

From a theological point of view, the theme of Mary in the face of faith, prayer and life seems to hide almost no aspects that have not yet been addressed. However, a more detailed analysis does not confirm such an assumption. In fact, faith and prayer bring with them several impulses, in the light of which one can discover promising perspectives for Catholic Mariology. The faith, understood not only  as a mere doctrine but also as a dynamic life force, shows how Mary does not become a substitute for Christ, but rather an effective, life-shaping example. Exactly the same applies to prayer. It is often  forgotten that Mary is not only adored, but also prays and learns to pray. Human life draws from it what is necessary to be called Christian. The whole topic meets and receives a certain summary in the  so-called theology of the cult, whose task is, among other things, to renew Marian devotion. Theologians welcome the fact that the new liturgical texts, including the new Marian Missal, are based on such  theological thinking.
