Abstract

Reflection on the teaching of the Church from the 19th century up to the Second Vatican Council The purpose of the family lets us know that it was always recognized as a primary place the religious education of its members. His educational rights derive from nature it self of the family law and the sacramental character of marriage. In the pre-conciliar teaching the family is presented only as the institution subordinated to ecclesiastical rights, in which the religious socialization of the children took place. Its true nature has been rediscovered by the Vatican, no II, according to which the Christian family becomes a "domestic church", a "saved community" and ch. save” , who participates in a proper and original way in the mission of the Church to build up | Kingdom of God in history. In this key, the family is called to become a "prophetic sign"', so that he discovers and authentically lives the values ​​present in it.
