The article discusses the significance of music in the development of the human spirit, and of his s e n s ib ility that opens him to values such as goodness, beauty, harmony to arrive at the end of the supreme value of God. Liturgical music in its role and task has been set in the light of the D o cum en tó of the Church such as the Motu Proprio of Pope Pius X Inter sollicitudines, the instruction Ylu s ie a in Sacram and the Conciliar Constitution „Sacrosanctum Concilium” . The reflection reaches all musical types that find space in the liturgy. At that time, first of all the Gregorian choral, which amazes us today for its aesthetic value.
