The former Cistercian monastery administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco in Ląd was during World War II (from January 1940 to October 1941) by German occupiers in an internment camp for 152 arrested Catholic diocesan and religious clergy. Many of them were transported to Dachau and when Mar. Tyrer murdered. Among them were seven priests, candidates for the priesthood and Bishop Micah! Kozal beatified by Pope John Paul II. This paper discusses the current state of research on the history of the internment camp in Ląd and lies at the same time the most important archival document from those times: “The clergy interned in Lund from 6. X. 1941”.
