Abstract

Brother Paweł Prokopowicz was borne 25.01.1910 in Ostrów Lubelski near Lubartów (south - east of Poland). After finishing his school he was working as a registrar. In 1930 he became the aspirant of The Salesian Congregation. This stage of religious formation he passed in The Inspectorial House in Warsaw. In 1931 he joined The Noviciate in Czerwińsk and made the first religious profession in 27.07.1931. Next he was working in the administration of Salesian House in Ląd. In Ląd he met father Wieczorek a missionaiy from China, and decided to become a missionaiy. In 1937 they both went to China. All year he was studying the language in St. Louis School. In 1938 he started work in Seminary in Shaukiwan, but as a result of war he returned to St. Louis School. In years 1943-53 brother Paweł was working in Aberdeen Technical School. In 1954 was moved to Tang King Po on the Kowloon, a year later was working in Seminary as a teacher of English and once again he returned to Tang King Po School. From this location on 15.08.1957 he went on Filipinos where he was working one year in Don Bosco Technical Institute on the Island Negros, and then next fourteen years (1958-72) he was working in Don Bosco Technical College on Mandalayoung. Brother Paweł returned for good to Poland in 1972. He settled in Czerwińsk till his death in 27.11.1983. During his life brother Paweł was working in administration, in publishing house as a proofreader, as a manager in workshop, as a male nurse, as a teacher of English. He was able to speak many languages: Italian, Chinese Canton dialect and Hakku, Russian, Spanish, Filipinos Tagalog dilect.
