Going Out to the Youth as a Condition for Updating the Preventive System

Abstract

When one looks for the road that leads to a meeting with young people, one often comes across uim barrier that seems to divide the world of youth from that of adults. This ivmle situation a mutual knowledge and understanding which permits a rich transmission is impossible.' Of values. The ability to bridge this gap seems to every educator ,,the first step" for overcome physical, psychological and cultural obstacles. For today's educator, Don Bosco can be considered an authentic teacher who he went out on the streets every day to meet young people and present a proposal for a "different lifestyle". Interest, promptness, confident and patient listening to expectations youthful... they open hearts often wounded by lack of love and blocked by fear of be betrayed again. Only an attitude full of patience and attention to even the smallest sign of goodness that the educator can grasp in the young person, can arouse in him the awareness of own value and importance. Therefore the educator is the one who must take the first step, and he must to prevail in kindness to enrich the pupil. For this purpose it is necessary to work on oneself for form a deep and disinterested love, an engaging enthusiasm, a constant dedication and a loving presence among young people. Therefore, we need competent educators full of spontaneity who approach the young person know how to respond to his deep needs, and above all I will give hope when the young he has lost faith in himself. Of this attitude, which we can define as “first step pedagogy” or “pedagogy of the approach to young people”, there is Don Bosco as a model, who was FOR young people, he went TOWARDS the young, and lived AMONG the young.
