Abstract

The Salesian methodology of missionary work - as this article is entitled - Fr. Stella in his book on Don Bosco he calls it „Salesian Missionary Strategy", Francis Desramout „La apostolic strategies of Don Bosco", or „A missionary pastoral care", Jesus Borrego „Methodology pastoral care" or "Pastoral tactics", Gianfausto Rosali "The Salesian model" and Giovanni Bottasso "The style of Salesian missionary work". Don Bosco followed a trajectory analogous to the one he followed for the missions of Patagonia in creating the Salesian Society. Based on the complex civil and religious needs of Argentina, introduced himself into the country with the favor and help of the ecclesiastical and political authorities, with the sympathy of the people and religious congregations, with subsidies from international charities. Then he wanted everything so as to obtain juridical autonomy for his followers, both as religious and as missionaries, without the civil consistency, economically insured, as well as by charity, from the just income from the educational and civilizing work in colleges, parishes and missionary activity. Thus the missionary thought of Don Bosco, initially meditated on in the capital of Piedmont of the century XIX, rapidly took shape first in South America and then in Africa and Asia.
