The socio-political changes in Poland in 1989 opened new perspectives ahead of the Catholic school and have led to a growth in the number of private schools, among these also Catholic schools. The Conference of Polish Bishops convened in 1994 the Council of Catholic Schools, which organizes into a representative group and represents all Catholic schools in Poland. In the group of 181 Catholic schools Salesian school constitutes the largest group (34). This article highlights the legal and social context of the operation of Catholic school, including the Salesian school. First, it clarifies the current situation of the Polish Salesian school. The statistics present the development of the Salesian school in Poland. The last chapters speak of some characteristics of the Salesian school and its influence in social life in Poland.
