Abstract

The article „The retrospective image of the catechist” recalls, that the catechist is a accomplisher of the mission of Christ and of the Church. The prof. S. Kulpaczyński says, that the way of accomplishing this mission leaves in the memory of those being catechized a concrete image of catechist. At first, the author succinctly recalls the service, duties and function of the catechist. Take a retrospective image of the catechist (at the basis of the study, of 200 people chosen from the last middle school and high school class and technical school), starting to show very large change (variability) of catechists. According to him, 25% of those being catechized, during eight years of school, they have already had 7 catechists. Then the author shows the positive memories of their pupils catechists. The students underline more frequently how to do catechesis, good humor, la charity, help in difficulties, and others. Among the negative opinions, bad treatment of the being catechized, the boring way of doing catechesis, the catechists who are too demanding, the arrogance, and the other weaknesses. In general, the study results in a positive image of catechists who have already catechized, but also a critical and teaching image for those, who today take responsibility for doing this mission in the Church.
